SINTESIS NANOKRISTALIN CaCO3/MgO UNTUK APLIKASI BAHAN ANTIBAKTERI

Abstrak


Berbagai macam penyakit dapat tumbuh akibat adanya aktivitas bakteri patogen dan virus, sehingga dibutuhkan bahan antibakteri untuk menghambat aktivitas bakteri. Bahan antibakteri dapat dibuat dari bahan anorganik yaitu CaCO3/MgO dengan ukuran nanokristlain. Ukuran nanokristalin dapat meningkatkan aktivitas antibakteri karena dapat menaikkan pH bakteri. Sintesis nanokristalin dari komposit CaCO3/MgO dibuat dengan metode mixing dengan kalsinasi suhu 800 oC, kemudian dilakukan karaterisasi XRD. Hasil karakterisasi XRD menunjukkan bahwa komposit CaCO3/MgO mengandung fase kalsit (CaCO3) 64,2% dan MgO 35,8 %. Berdasarkan analisis rietveld, komposit CaCO3/MgO memiliki ukuran kristal antara 61,85 - 66,11 nm yang termasuk dalam nanokristalin serta berpotensi sebagai bahan antibakteri yang baik.

Abstract


Various diseases can grow due to the activity of pathogenic bacteria and viruses, so it takes antibacterial substances to inhibit bacterial activity. An antibacterial agent can be made from inorganic material such as CaCO3/MgO with nanocrystalline size. The size of nanocrystalline can increase antibacterial activity because raise the pH of bacteria. Synthesis nanocrystalline from CaCO3/MgO composite was made by mixing and calcination methods at temperature 800 oC, then XRD caratization was done. The XRD characterization results show that the CaCO3/MgO composite contains calcite (CaCO3) phases 64.2% and MgO phases 35.8 %. Based on rietveld analysis, the CaCO3/MgO composite had crystalline size between 61.85 - 66.11 nm included in nanocrystalline and potentially to be good antibacterial agent.
