Education is a main factor in shaping the quality of human resources and Professional teacher is needed to improve the quality of education. The research focus is the principal leadership in improving teacher performance include: Improved performance of teachers in the program / ​​activities: learning device, PAKEM Learning, learning Media. The factors that support and hinder school leadership in improving teacher performance and School efforts in improving teacher performance. This study was conducted with a qualitative approach. This approach is a systematic process of data collection and intensive to acquire knowledge about school leadership in improving teacher performance in Islamic Senior High School Hasan Jufri Sangkapura Gresik.The researcher used observation method, interviews and documentation. Principals always provide direction, motivation and also facilitates everything what is needed by the teacher. While the stages are done by school principal to improve the performance of teachers include various teacher trainings, seminars, workshops and conduct MGMP. The principal obstacles in moving activity of improving teacher performance is not all teachers are motivated to follow the development of innovative education. Whereas factors that support is high motivation and communication that exists between principals and teachers. As a Results it can be concluded that the principal is responsible for guiding and directing the duty of teachers, such as: Improving the welfare of teachers, creating a supported environment, improving teacher skills through higher education and training. Because it can affect the improvement of teacher performance.
