Abstract

This research aims to find out wheter leadership and competence have an influence on performance through motivation as an intervening variable. The analysis used are descriptive and inferential analysis with the determination of samples using a saturated sampling technique (a census), that is 85 employees from 7 divisions at PT. PLN (Persero) North Surabaya area. The result of this research show that leadership gives positive and significant influence on employee performance. This shows that the better the leadership given by the company. It will increase the performance of the employees at PT. PLN (Persero) North Surabaya Area. Competencies provide a significant and positive influence on employee performance. This shows that the higher the competence that is owned, it will increase the performance of the employees of PT. PLN (Persero) North Surabaya Area. The motivation of working is capable of being and intermediary to influence the leadership and competence on employee performance.
