Abstract


Abstract:. The purpose of this research was to analyze the impact ofacquisition announcement in stock market. The observation was donein eleven days, consist of five days before announcement,announcment day, and five days after the acquisition announcement.Statistical experimental use paired sample t-test. The result of thisresearch shows that before acquisition announcement, four out of fivedays abnormal return are positive. The highest abnormal return isfound on the day of announcement. After announcement, four out offive abnormal return are negative. The conclusion is market react toacquisition announcement of PT. HM Sampoerna Tbk., but there isno difference between the reaction before and after the acquisitionannouncement.Keywords: acquisition announcement, abnormal return, event study, and market efficiency.
