Problems faced by mental retardation children causes their low study result. It can be seen from the mathematics subject which demands the students to have abstract thinking. The teacher should understand learning model in order to conduct effective learning process to improve the study result. Based in this background, the researcher applies make a match type as cooperative learning model to find its effect for mild mental retardation children’s study result at second grade of SDLB-C Harmoni Sidoarjo.
This research is quantitative research in the form of pre experiment research. The design used is the one group pre test post test design. The data collecting technique used is test. It is used to get the mathematics study result before and after giving the treatment. The treatment is conducted in eight times and 60 minutes each. The data analysis technique used is nonparametric statistic analysis, sign test.
Based on the analysis by using sign test, it can be concluded that there is a significant effect of make a match type as cooperative learning for the mild mental retardation children’s mathematic study result at SDLB-C Harmoni Sidoarjo. The critical score of 5% for one side test (1,64) and two sides test (1,96) show that Z count (2,03) is bigger than Ztable or Zcount > Ztable.
