Abstract


AbstractReading comprehension skill is a reading activity which tries to comprehend the content of the text (Budiarti, 2013: 18). Based unstructured interviews, students with cerebral palsy at fifth grade of SDLB-D YPAC Surabaya shows the low reading comprehensive skill and they have not met the expected competence based on the curriculum. It can be seen from the fact that students have difficulty determining the main idea and do not know the whole content of reading. Based on the problem above and the importance of solving the problem mentioned above, this research aims to analyze the effect of PQ4R method for the reading comprehension skill of the student with cerebral palsy at fifth grade of SDLB-D YPAC Surabaya. This research needs 10 meetings with 8 times for action. The research design used is “one group pre test post test design”. The data colleting methods are test and documentation. The non parametric statistic by using “sign test” is used to analyze the data. Based on the research result which is analyzed by using sign test, Z count is 2,05, Z table for 5% in one tail test (Zt=1,64) and two tiles (Zt=1,96). Therefore, Ho is rejected (1,64<2,05>1,96). Based on the description above, it can be concluded that there is a significant effect of PQ4R method for reading comprehension skill of students with cerebral palsy at fifth grade of SDLB-D YPAC Surabaya.Keyword : PQ4R, reading comprehension
