PENERAPAN MODEL PROBLEM BASED INSTRUCTION (PBI) PADA TEMA DAUR ULANG LIMBAH UNTUK MELATIH KECAKAPAN HIDUP (LIFE SKILL) SISWA KELAS VIII SMP

Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pre-eksperimental yang bertujuan untuk melihat keterlaksanaan model  Problem Based Instruction (PBI), hasil belajar siswa, kecakapan hidup (life skill) dan respon siswa setelah mengikuti pembelajaran yang menerapkan model PBI pada tema daur ulang limbah. Rancangan penelitian yang digunakan adalah “Pretest and Postest Group” dengan sasaran penelitian yaitu siswa kelas VIII-I SMP Negeri 1 Tulangan tahun ajaran 2013-2014. Pelaksanaan penelitian dilakukan dalam tiga kali pertemuan, siswa diberikan pretest di awal dan postest di akhir proses pembelajaran untuk mengukur kecakapan hidup sekaligus pengusaan materi siswa. Hasil penelitian dan analisis data, menunjukkan bahwa model Problem Based Instr uction (PBI) pada tema pencemaran air terlaksana 100% dengan skor rata-rata sebesar 3,62. Kecakapan hidup (life skill) siswa menggunakan indikator kecakapan akademik diantaranya merumuskan masalah, hipotesis, merancang percobaan, menuliskan langkah kerja, dan menentukan simpulan. Dari hasil pretest dan posttest diperoleh N-gain kecakapan siswa sebesar 0,8 dengan kategori tinggi. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa penerapan model Problem Based Instruction (PBI) pada tema daur ulang limbah dapat melatih dan meningkatkan kecakapan hidup (life skill) siswa. Siswa juga menunjukkan respon positif terhadap pembelajaran yang telah dilakukan.  Berdasarkan perhitungan N-Gain, penguasaan materi siswa menunjukkan peningkatan hasil belajar siswa kognitif sebesar 0,65 dengan kriteria sedang, skor kemampuan psikomotor sebesar  3,60 dengan kriteria sangat baik, dan skor penilaian afektif sebesar 3,25 dengan kriteria baik.

This research is pre-experimental research aims to the realization of Problem Based Instruction (PBI) model, learning outcomes of students, life skill of students, and the student response after learning that applying the PBI model on the theme of recycling of waste. The research design used was “Pretest and Postest Group“ with targeted research that is grade VIII-I of Junior High School 1 Tulangan academic year 2013-2014. Implementation of the research is conducted in three sesions, students are given a pretest at beginning and posttest in the end of the learning process to measure life skill as well as mastery material. The results of research and data analysis, knowing that the learning Problem Based Instruction (PBI) on the theme of recycling of waste done 100% with an average score of every aspect of 3,62. Life skill of students using academic skills are formula of problems, hypotheses, design of experiments, write job steps, and determine of the conclusion. From the result pretest and posttest be expected N-gain 0,8 with high category. This shows that the application of problem Based Instruction (PBI) on the theme of recycling of waste can train the life skill of students. Students also showed a positive response to the learning that has been done. From the result be expect N-Gain, score procurement of materials students showed  an increased in students cognitive learning outcomes of 0,65 with moderat criteria, score of the psychomotor skills an average of 3.60 with good criteria, and score of the affective abilities an average of 3.25 with good criteria.
