Abstrak


 


Di kelas tujuh, kompetensi dasar yang harus dikuasai murid dalam pelajaran Bahasa inggris adalah kemampuan mengembankan dan membuat teksfungsional sederhana dalam bentuk teks deskripsi, teks recount, dan teks narasi. Banyak murid yang menemui kesulitan dalam tipe teks tertentu, khususnya teks deskriptif. Para guru dapat menggunakan realiasebagai media dalam mengajar menulis deskripsi. Realia sangat mudah digunakan didalam proses belajar mengajar. Sangat mudah bagi guru untuk mendapatkannya karena sangat sederhana dan murah. Realia dapat menarik perhatian murid dan membuat mereka fokus didalam topik. Dalam pengajaran teks deskripsi, realia dapat di gunakan sebagai media yang membuat muri-murid mudah untuk mendeskripsikan sesuatu. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Instrument yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data adalah data observasi, tugas menulis siswa, dan kuestioner. Setelah di analisis, dapat disimpulkan bahwa realia dapat digunakan sebagai media alternatif untuk mengajar teks deskripsi, khususnya untuk siswa kelas tujuh. Realia efektif dalam membantu murid-murid untuk membuat teks deskripsi. Realia dapat meminimalisir kesulitan murid yang mereka hadapi dalam menulis. Realia dapat memotivasi murid untuk menulis, membantu murid untuk membuat dan menggabungkan ide mereka dengan mudah. Selama proses belajar mengajar, kebanyakan murid memberikan respon positif terhadap penerapan realia di kelas menulis. Hal ini terlihat dari antusiasme mereka, kebanyakan dari mereka merasa antusias ketika guru memberikan realia di setiap pertemuan.

Abstract


 


In the seventh grade, the basic competency that should be achieved by students in the writing English subjects is the ability to develop and produce written simple functional text in the descriptive text, recount text, and narrative text. Many students found difficulties in writing certain type of text, especially descriptive text.The teacher might use realia as the media of teaching descriptive writing. Realia is useful instructional tools for teachers to be used with students of any age. It can be easily used by teacher in teaching learning process. It is easy for teacher to find it and it is simple. Realia can gather students’ attention or attract students to focus on the topic. In teaching descriptive text, realia can be used as media that can make students easy to describe something. This study was designed in descriptive qualitative research. The instrument used to collect the data are observation checklist, student task, and questionnaires.After being analyzed, it can be conclude that the realia could be used as an alternative media to teach writing descriptive text, especially to the 7th grade students. The realia were effective in helping the students to compose their writing of descriptive text. The realia can minimize the students’ difficulties which they faced in writing. It motivate students to write, help students to produce and organize ideas easily. During the teaching learning process, most of the students gave good responses toward the implementation of the realia in writing class. This can be seen from their enthusiasm, most of them felt enthusiast whenever the teacher give realia in every meeting.
