KAJIAN DAYA SERAP AIR (SWELLING) PUPUK UREA SLOW RELEASE FERTILIZER (SRF) MENGGUNAKAN MATRIKS KITOSAN-ZEOLIT

Abstract


Abstrak. Pupuk urea Slow Release Fertilizer (SRF) merupakan pupuk urea yang mampu melepaskan nutrisinya lebih lambat dari pupuk urea konvensional. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui daya serap air (swelling) pupuk urea Slow Release Fertilizer (SRF). Muatan-muatan positif pada kitosan terprotonasi dan berinteraksi dengan muatan-muatan negatif pada permukaan zeolit dan membentuk linkage antara kitosan dan zeolit sehingga kitosan dapat menempel dan menutupi permukaan zeolit. Berdasarkan hasil uji daya serap air (swelling) didapatkan hasil yang menyatakan bahwa semakin besar konsentrasi zeolit dalam kitosan maka semakin baik persentase daya serap air (swelling).  Kata Kunci: Pupuk urea SRF, daya serap air (swelling)


 


Abstract. Urea Slow Release Fertilizer (SRF) is a urea fertilizers which are able to release the nutrients more slowly than conventional urea fertilizer. This study aims to determine water absorption (swelling) of urea SRF. Positive charges on the chitosan protonated and interact with the negative charges on the surface of the zeolite and establish linkage between chitosan and zeolite that chitosan can be attached and cover the surface of the zeolite. Based on the results of water absorption (swelling) assays showed that states that the greater the concentration of zeolite in chitosan, the better percentage of water absorption (swelling).
