The Current Development of Agribusiness

Understanding Agribusiness According to Wibowo et al, (1994)

The definition of agribusiness refers to all activities ranging from procurement, processing, distribution to the marketing of products produced by a farm or agro-industry which are interrelated to one another.

Thus agribusiness can be seen as an agricultural system that has several sub-system components, namely, farming sub-systems / which produce raw materials; agro-processing sub-system, and agro-marketing sub-system.

In the current development of agribusiness does not only cover the food industry because the use of agricultural products has been closely related to pharmaceuticals, materials technology, and energy supply.

Below this is the definition of agribusiness according to several experts:

Definition of Agribusiness According to Sjarkowi and Sufri (2004)

The term "agribusiness" is absorbed from English: agribusiness, which is a measure of agriculture (agriculture) and business (business). In Indonesian, there is also a standard variant according to KBBI, agribusiness.

Agribusiness objects can be plants, animals or other organisms. Cultivation activities are the core of agribusiness, although an agribusiness company does not have to do this activity alone. If the cultivation product (harvest) is used by the manager himself, this activity is called subsistence agriculture, and is the most primitive agribusiness activity. Utilization itself can mean also selling or exchanging to meet daily needs.
